Stabilize & Protect
Force Basements quickly evaluates your crawl space and installs a system to restore your home and prevent future damage that may occur. We use various products including stabilizers, dehumidifiers, and encapsulation systems to repair and protect your home.
Encapsulation System
Crawl space encapsulation is the process of completely closing off your crawl space from outside elements. We use heavy-duty sheeting, vent covers, and a secure door for crawl space encapsulation systems. Once we clean and seal the area, we ensure humidity levels are under control to prevent mold growth, using a dehumidifier designed for crawl spaces to avoid excess moisture quickly and permanently from building up.
Vapor barriers from SafeBasements™ seal crawl spaces from both water vapors and radon using a 100% polypropylene construction that does not rip, rot, or decay. SafeBasements™ can also provide radiant and heat-retaining liners that hold heat within the home and reduce energy costs in winter. These barriers are Class A/Class 1 fire-rated and are antimicrobial, so they will not support mold growth.
Stabilizing Jacks
If your floors are sagging, the best repair is to replace the old, wooden columns with a system of steel crawl space stabilizers and jacks to restore your floor. Jacks and steel beams may be installed under sagging floors to ensure sagging does not worsen. In some cases, these repairs will properly level your floor out again and prevent any future sagging.
Step-by-Step Repair Process
- Our team lays down floor protection over travel areas of workers to and from the access panel.
- We level out the bottom of the crawl space (if necessary).
- A dimple board is put down to protect the encapsulation floor liner and make crawling around easier on workers’ knees.
- Floor and wall liners are installed. During this step, our team ensures overlap at the seams and seals with tape backed by a special adhesive. The wall liner is buttoned to the wall and all perimeters are sealed with a special sealant. The job site is then cleaned, and floor protection is removed. A dehumidifier may also be installed.
- If standing water is an issue in the crawl space, our team may also install a dewatering system or sump pump.
