Benefits of Professional Installation

When you trust a professional construction group to handle your egress window installation, you’re guaranteed precision, quality, and efficiency — plus, you won’t have to make multiple trips to the store for tools, parts, and hardware you didn’t think you’d need! Our team takes great pride in the work they do with excellent communication and customer service from the initial estimate to job completion.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

  1. Floor and dust protection is brought in, including using air scrubbers and other air movers or purification systems.
  2. Our crew excavates outside the egress window installation area.
  3. We then cut out the hole in the wall to fit the size of the egress window.
  4. The egress window is framed with treated lumber and installed using special sealant to prevent leaks.
  5. The window well is installed by anchoring it to the foundation. Before tightening the anchors, we put a special sealant between the window well and the foundation.
  6. The ladder grate and cover are both installed. Then, we backfill around the window well with the same earth we excavated and tamp it back down. Plus, we fill the bottom of the window well up with pea rock to the bottom of window. We can also install a drain and grate at the bottom of the well.
  7. Floor and dust protection is removed and our crew cleans the work area.

Proper Draining

Heavy precipitation may lead to window wells filling with water, which in turn can lead to waterproofing problems. When building egress window wells, we can dig past the bottom of window by about 6-12 inches and install a vertical drain that connects to other drain tile near footing (footing tile), preventing water buildup and keeping your basement dry.

Well Cover Options & Safety Features

Egress windows provide safety and peace of mind for everyone inside your home, but they may also be a hazard for children and small animals outside. Our team can provide a wide range of covers and grates from Boman Kemp to prevent falls and keep everyone safe and sound.

Risks of DIY Installation

Many homeowners choose to install egress windows themselves. However, doing so without the know-how and experience of a professional can carry some risk. Common DIY risks include the following:

  • Lintels not being placed or placed properly for homes that have brick veneer
  • Installing window improperly making it hard to use in case of emergency
  • Foundation is not strong enough to handle the stress of cutting or demolishing the opening for the windows, leading to cracking and collapsing walls
  • Not meeting codes and incurring fines or citations
